Hello!
Welcome to my very first blog post! I'm excited to create a space where caregivers can find the latest updates in dementia care, share their experiences, and connect with others on a similar journey. Did you know that over 420,000 people in Australia are living with dementia, and this number is expected to double by 2054? Caring for a loved one with dementia can feel isolating, but remember, you're not alone. Let's use this space to support each other, share strategies, and build a community.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas!

Hello!
You may notice this is my first blog post - watch this space. I hope to make short blog posts regularly, even if it's just a fact or statistic from a journal article I read. I hope this is a place people can come to read and keep themselves up to date on the latest in dementia care.
I love hearing other people's strategies to deal with certain behaviours or even their own strategies to cope - being a carer is not an easy slog (and trust me, you're appreciated)! If I post statistics I don't want them to be taken as a negative but more of a "you're not alone" message. Carers need to know this because the role can be so isolating!
statistics incoming There are currently over 420,000 people living with dementia just in Australia! This number is expected to double by the year 2054. That is a whole lot of people, people on a similar journey to you! So reach out, make connections, lean on each other. I wonder if a Newcastle Community Facebook group would be worthwhile? let me know your thoughts (hello@caringwithdementia.com)
I hope to see more of you, and you'll certainly be seeing more of me here!
Take care,
Jess
