Frequently Asked Questions

  • At Caring With Dementia, our in-home care services are tailored to the unique needs of the individual. We provide support with daily activities such as personal care, medication administration, wound care, companionship, and engagement in meaningful activities. Our goal is to help your loved one live safely, comfortably, and with dignity in their own home.

  • If your loved one is experiencing memory loss, confusion, changes in behaviour, or difficulty with daily tasks, it may be time to consider in-home care. Early intervention can help maintain independence, positive relationships and quality of life. We offer a free, no-obligation consultation to discuss your concerns and recommend appropriate support.

  • Our services may be eligible under both NDIS and My Aged Care funding depending on your individual plan or package. For NDIS funding we are claimable under self-managed and plan-managed funds (not NDIA managed funds). For My Aged Care funding we can either ask your provider to set up a brokerage agreement or utilise the Mable platform. We’re happy to work alongside your plan manager or care coordinator to make accessing support simple and stress-free.

  • We offer personalised education and coaching sessions designed to help family members and friends better understand dementia. This includes communication strategies, behavioural support, safety planning, and emotional guidance to help you confidently support your loved one.

  • Dementia can affect how a person thinks, feels, and responds to the world around them. Through our education sessions, we help you understand why certain behaviours happen and how to respond with empathy and effectiveness. Our goal is to reduce stress and improve relationships within the care circle.

  • We offer flexible delivery options. Education and support sessions are available both in-person across Newcastle and the Hunter region, as well as online via video calls. This allows us to support families wherever they are.

  • A dementia wedding chaperone is someone who provides one-on-one support to a person living with dementia during a special event, such as a wedding. At Caring With Dementia, I personally provide this service. I’m a registered nurse with a Master’s degree in Dementia and extensive hands-on experience supporting people across all stages of dementia. My role is to ensure your loved one feels calm, comfortable, and included — so they can enjoy the moment, and you can enjoy the day with peace of mind.

  • Weddings and other large gatherings can be overwhelming for someone living with dementia due to unfamiliar settings, crowds, noise, or changes in routine. Mobility challenges, medical needs, and dietary concerns can also make these events difficult to navigate alone. As a registered nurse with a Master’s degree in Dementia, I provide discreet, one-on-one support — including assistance with mobility, nutrition, and medication administration if needed — so your loved one can safely enjoy the celebration, and your family can focus on the moment.

  • Yes, our event support service is available for a wide range of occasions, including funerals, birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, and more. Whether you need a few hours or full-day support, we tailor our services to your event and your loved one’s needs.
